An anonymous Iraqi army officer reveals the collapse of Iraqi forces in the face of ISIS attack on Mosul, highlighting corruption and internal conflicts. The interview provides insight into the failed US-built military and calls for American assistance.
“There were 400 men who came,” says the anonymous Iraqi army officer in the interview about the ISIS fighters' attack on the city of Mosul. They were facing three divisions. “The Iraqi police, the army, the National Guard, all took off their uniforms and went home. No one fought.” ISIS seized the complete equipment of an army division – from the Humvees, to the tanks, to the night vision devices. The excellent interview in “Foreign Intrigue” provides a disturbing inside look at the conflict and the perspectives. The army officer describes the system of corruption, the ethnic and religious conflicts, and why the army built with US assistance is not functioning. At the same time, he hopes for American help again. The English-language interview can be read HERE.
