The assault machine gun
At MSPO 2025, FN HERSTAL showcased the Evolys, a lightweight assault machine gun designed for mobility. Available in two calibers (5.56x45 mm and 7.62x51 mm NATO), the Evolys features a monolithic system housing and has reduced weight by 30%, weighing only 5.5 kg or 6.2 kg, emphasizing agility for troops in motion.
Also represented at MSPO 2025: FN HERSTAL with the full range of its products. In the front row: the Evolys in two versions. FN is thereby focusing on the class of assault machine guns that are very lightweight and designed for troops in motion. The Evolys, like the M249 Minimi, is available in two calibers. All in a monolithic system housing: The weight has been reduced by 30 percent compared to current machine guns, weighing only 5.5 kg and 6.2 kg in the standard calibers 5.56x45 mm and 7.62x51 mm NATO, respectively.
