CQB GBRS Hydra Mount Steyr AUG

Hydra, that's the most exclusive mount in the world. This is due to the very special shape that elevates the look of the weapon as well as the laser. We got one and tried it out on different platforms - including on the AUG from Steyr.

This is how it looks. And we must say: the Hydra from the GBRS Group is simply made for the AUG. It just looks more futuristic. Whether it makes sense, you naturally have to ask in practice.

The point of the matter is that this special mount is completely tailored to CQB. So it doesn't make sense for everyone.

Here's the comparison. The good old Aimpoint is raised with a mount at Unity Tactical height of 2.26 inches and doesn't even come close to reaching the mounting height of the Micro at the peak of the Hydra before. This is how it looks from the front. The purpose of the Hydra is to keep the shooter's head completely straight and both eyes open, allowing him to perceive more in the room and shoot more efficiently, faster. Naturally also produces a significant offset that one must get used to. Interesting question on how many meters the weapon will be zeroed …

We don't dare to say how many shooters worldwide need this mount, probably realistically a few hundred, but on the AUG, the Hydra at least looks so wonderfully suitable. Even if we - honestly - definitely prefer lower optics mounts. Not every trend is sensible, even if it produces a spectacular look.
