The Square NVG Pouch by DIRECT ACTION is a lightweight, padded bag designed for safe transport of night vision devices. Measuring 14 cm x 9 cm x 14 cm, it features a velour-lined interior, secure zippers, and MOLLE connectors. Its thoughtful design accommodates both monoculars and binoculars, ensuring durability and accessibility.

The NVD is not always on the helmet. If it is not there, it should be safely stored. Ideally quickly accessible and not too bulky, so the big transport case is already out of the question when moving. From DIRECT ACTION, there is a suitable padded bag for the monocular, the Square NVG Pouch. We took a detailed look at it.

The bag measures about 14 cm x 9 cm x 14 cm and weighs just under 130 g empty, making it lightweight. The low weight is achieved through Cordura 500D and very thoughtful cutting.

Interior

The inside is completely lined with fine velour to prevent the lenses from scratching. You can see the laser-cut laminate eyelet in the picture. The bag can of course also be used as a multipurpose pouch.

Everything flipped inside out. Except for the zipper and the binding tape, everything is velour, but you are also looking at the padding at the same time.

With a small cut, we made it visible for you. The padding consists of special “foam trauma pads,” which means foam that absorbs shocks particularly well. This is also used with bulletproof plates.

External Features

To ensure that the valuable night vision device does not get lost, the main zippers can be hooked together. A simple solution that works perfectly, even with gloves no problem. The zippers are equipped with a particularly pronounced cover to keep as little dirt as possible from getting in.

At the front, there is a small zippered pocket. Only one side is lined with velour.

On the back, there are three MOLLE/PALS connectors. Two would have been sufficient, but this bag should definitely not get lost. On the left and right, you will find the well-known paracord loops from DIRECT ACTION for belt mounting.

We have been using the mentioned system for years on our gun belt and it holds up great. Yes, that is Pencott GreenZone in the picture.

Observations

Two things stood out to us with the Square NVG Pouch. First, although it is stated on the company's homepage that it is only intended for monoculars, like the PVS-14, binoculars also fit very well. In our case, the combination of light intensifier and thermal imaging device with a bridge. The whole thing is indeed very closely tailored but can be removed and replaced easily.

Secondly, the bag fits very well inside a helmet, so the night vision device can be safely transported in larger luggage.

Conclusion

DIRECT ACTION creates thoughtful, seemingly simple gear, but that is precisely the master class. The Square NVG Pouch looks simple but is thoughtfully designed in every aspect, and you can feel that right from the first use. It is padded, the zippers can be secured, and even a bino fits inside. The perfect bag to safely carry your night vision device with your gear.

The Square NVG Pouch is available directly from DIRECT ACTION starting at €69.90 and from all dealers that carry DIRECT ACTION.
