CZ BREN 2 in 7.62x39: The Anti-Kalashnikov

07/30/2020By Redaktion

Terrorism uses Kalashnikov. It is often seen in attacks that the perpetrators rely on the Russian model with its very powerful cartridge. The GIGN, the special forces of the French police, wanted to achieve weapon parity. There is a tendency toward this, for example, with the Western caliber .300 BLK. However, the French choose the original, the 7.62 x 39 mm, the proven Kalashnikov cartridge. And they have found their answer in a modern assault rifle from the Czech Republic that meets all Western standards.

The CZ BREN 2 is also available in the Kalashnikov caliber 7.62 x 39mm. Note the beautifully curved magazine, as with an AK47 or AKM. The BREN 2 in NATO caliber is the standard weapon of the Czech army and is also being introduced in Hungary.

On the other hand, the French police special forces, the Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN), have opted for the BREN 2 in 7.62 x 39: the weapon has been introduced and is a pioneer for CZ weapons in law enforcement agencies in Western Europe. The caliber of the CZ BREN 2 achieves weapon parity with the threat in terms of cartridge. The modularity of the weapon, combined with the ability to use all modern attachments, creates superiority. The shooter on the left has not only mounted a weapon light but also uses an Aimpoint optic and the MWAL weapon laser as an aiming aid from B.E. Meyers.
