Combat Obscura - Afghanistan from the perspective of an 18-year-old Marine

04/14/2019By Redaktion

Fresh out of high school at the age of 18, Miles Lagoze joined the Marine Corps. He was deployed to Afghanistan, where he served as Combat Camera - the official cameraman of his unit tasked with recording and editing footage for the Corps' recruitment and historical initiatives. But upon discharge, Lagoze took all the material he and his cameraman had captured and simply put together his own documentary film. COMBAT OBSCURA is a glimpse into daily life in a war zone as told by the Marines themselves. More than just a compilation of violence, the editing ingeniously repurposes the original footage to reveal the intensity and paradoxes of an ambiguous war from an unvarnished perspective. Combat Obscura is currently only available via video on demand (Amazon, iTunes, and more) and will also be released on Blu-Ray later on. The Amazon link is provided below, and more information can be found on their website.
