On Army Day, Poland made further decisions regarding their armament policy. They plan to procure 700 heavy infantry fighting vehicles CBWP with individual customization. The first vehicle is expected to be delivered in 2025.
All of this is possible because Poland is building its own defense industry in partnership with Korean companies. The basis for the design of the 50-ton CBWP will be elements of the self-propelled howitzer Krab/K9, and in addition, CBWP will be equipped with the remote-controlled turret system ZSSW with a 40mm gun and Spike missiles. The new vehicle will have a role in direct cooperation with tanks. It is interesting that Poland is opting for its own heavy vehicle, which will complement the new 1,400 Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles. The Poles had also tested the AS21 Redback infantry fighting vehicle from Hanwha for this role, which is currently being procured in Australia, but it was deemed unsuitable for their purposes.
