Here it is: The new common APC. The Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) from PATRIA will be adopted by several NATO-countries including Germany. It is powered by a 394 hp Scania diesel engine, has a range of roughly 700 km and is ready to swim. It is a little shorter than the Boxer and with a lower level of preotection much lighter at 24 t without additional equipment.
To reach the tremendous amount of vehicle deliveries in an acceptable timeframe (the Bundeswehr alone needs around 4,000 to replace the Fuchs), PATRIA scales up production and teams up with KNDS and FFG to manufacture in German too.
We have no experience with the vehicle but the interior details of its design look promising - a sturdy, reliable companion for our troops. The motorization is excellent, and the entire system has significantly more scaling options in terms of accessories and armor than the Fuchs. All of the controls are better arranged; it is simply a modern design, whereas the Fuchs is a design from the 1970s. ALL INFORMATION about PATRIA CAVS.
