Carl-Gustaf educates the British

SAAB receives order from the UK for the delivery of Carl-Gustaf M4 Indoor and Outdoor Trainers. The Carl-Gustaf M4 simulators bring training as close as possible to live firing.

As original equipment manufacturer, the highly precise replicas from SAAB offer the same form, fit, and function as the real weapon. A detailed ballistic table and temperature index replicate the behavior and trajectory of live ammunition: training the correct use of sights, lead angles, and aiming points for different types of ammunition and supporting the UK Army's efforts to increase accuracy.

The Outdoor Trainer is used for both instrumented group exercises and individual shooters to improve shooting skills. Depending on the chosen ammunition, the system simulates proximity fuzes, impact fuzes, and timed ammunition, made possible by the highly realistic Compact Ballistic Laser from SAAB.

The Indoor Trainer is a virtual system that provides unlimited training opportunities through scenarios that can be easily created by instructors. Sensors provide realistic data and allow immediate feedback on the shooter's performance, weapon handling, and ballistics. The shooting ranges can be networked together and only require a power source, making the system highly versatile and allowing training to take place directly on site.

With this order, Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) continues its investment in Saab's Live Training portfolio under the recently completed ILT-D contract.
