The CARINTHIA G-LOFT® Tactical Anorak, inspired by the Inuit's original design, is a cozy, insulated pullover jacket made for harsh weather. Features include a durable Cordura RipStop exterior, a large hood, and functional compartments. It's ideal for both urban and outdoor use, combining style with practical functionality.
The word "Anorak" comes from the language of the Greenlandic Inuit (Kalaallisut) and is derived from "annoraaq". Translated, it means something like "something against the wind". Originally, the term referred to a windproof pullover jacket with a hood made from seal or reindeer fur. Well, we can't offer seal, but here we have something from CARINTHIA against the wind, the CARINTHIA G-LOFT® Tactical Anorak.

Preparing to put it on. A look inside the CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak: looks a bit like a sleeping bag, and is just as cozy, since the anorak is well insulated. G-LOFT® is the magic ingredient from the house in Carinthia that makes everything wonderfully warm, from sleeping bags to cold gear. It's built with 60g on the body and 40g on the arms, both together providing a comfortable wearing experience below zero degrees. The anorak is a winter pullover vest that also extends into the cold days of fall and spring.

Pullover vest was the key word. The anorak doesn't have a zipper that you can fully open to get in, so it's pulled over your head. That can be annoying, but it's quite practical. In return, it has a particularly durable format that doesn't shy away from any use in the cold. The "Eskimos" already knew why they invented the anorak this way.

This is the CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak from the front. What's striking is the large, semicircular belly pocket and the compartment underneath it. As already mentioned, we don't have seal to offer, but the outer material is an extremely solid, abrasion-resistant Cordura RipStop with KlimaShield. The anorak is snow-proof, but not a rain jacket. And because it's "Tactical," the CARINTHIA G-LOFT® Tactical Anorak is available in Black and Olive.

View from behind. You can see a large hood and otherwise everything pulls down in one go and closes at butt height. We always wear the CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak somewhat gathered so that we have our pants pockets free. Also because the anorak has no pockets for hands. So we wear "American gloves," hands in the pants pockets, so our fingers don't freeze.

The hood is the anorak's weapon against nasty weather. It faces it head-on, so to speak, and is really large and generously designed. This is because a real anorak must withstand bad weather.

The visor protects the face against everything that comes from above. There's no wire built in to shape it, but the material is relatively firm.

When push comes to shove and you're working more movement-oriented, it can be advantageous to get the hood close to the head. This way the wearer can also turn their head and look freely left and right.

The fit of the hood is adjusted vertically with two elastic cords on the collar. This makes the system perfect.

By the way, the collar with the hood down is nice and high and protects the neck. If you pull the edge properly, the wearer can disappear into the anorak up to the tip of their nose. In winter, it can still be worthwhile to wear a scarf or neck gaiter underneath.

If you want more air because it's warm, the collar zipper opens down to the chest.

The Anorak wouldn't be "Tactical" if it didn't have the industry-standard velcro patches on the sleeves.

There you can always and everywhere attach your favorite patches – this one is from FORWARD PATCH CONTROL.

The sleeves are important because cold air can also get in here. The CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak is also elaborately crafted here. Inside is a stretch sleeve that fits snugly and almost imperceptibly around the wrists. Outside, the wearer can decide with a velcro strap how tight they want to make the closure.

On the belly there's a really fat pull-tab that sits at the top center of the semicircular opening. We'll show you what it does below in the application.

Underneath is an approximately A4-sized compartment secured with a zipper and a flap. We don't need to explain how a zipper works. The two round dots on the flap are actually magnets that, together with their counterparts, ensure that the flap stays securely in place.

By the way, we always have a cap in there because it's super practical to keep your head warm when the hood would be too much.

On the sides, right and left up to chest height, the CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak has two slits that are, so to speak, multifunctional. For the professionals among you, they make wearing a holster easier. The jacket splits and this prevents it from bunching up over the holster and sitting too high, which would be extremely impractical when it's cold. At the same time, the slit is an air conditioning system and an entry aid.

When fully opened, you can pull the Tactical Anorak over your head more easily. The two-way zipper closes downward with a metal pull-tab, upward with a plastic pull-tab. The difference in material and shape helps you quickly distinguish between the two. Here we use the zipper as air conditioning, we leave a gap open so fresh air comes into the jacket and we don't overheat when moving.

At the bottom hem there's again the magnetic closure, which secures the gap well even when the zipper is completely open.

Last but not least: you can close up completely at the bottom. With the elastic cord, the bottom edge of the CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak is tightened so it doesn't draft.

No, we're not pregnant. But the purpose of the Tactical Anorak is that the wearer can carry something concealed.

We've chosen a chest rig with five magazines. Clearly visible here in magnificent PenCott GreenZone, the wonderful Thunderbolt Chest Rig from DIRECT ACTION. This gives the user everything they need in a compact format. We chose GreenZone here so we'd have a nice contrast with the black anorak.

Here the pull-tab miracle begins to work. We're concealed in operation and need to access our equipment carrier.

With a quick pull, everything hidden in the anorak comes to light.

And that's everything we need. Quick access guaranteed.

After working, the workspace must be properly closed again. Zip up on the right and left and we're ready for a new adventure.

If you want to get out: this is the way. The Tactical Anorak is a solid body armor in winter. Those who like quick and frequent location changes will find it annoying. But that's not what it's made for, rather it's gear for robust outdoor use.

And outside. Here it is again, the G-LOFT interior, which unfolds because the zippers on the right and left are open for easier exit.
CONCLUSION: The CARINTHIA G-LOFT® Tactical Anorak is a special piece of clothing. Just like the Inuits' anoraks, it's really made for the most adverse conditions and proves itself in winter operations. The belly pocket provides free access to equipment carried concealed. In urban black it wears great in the city, olive is ideal for operations in nature. Those who have it will love it, and those who use it know that here they have a high-quality, special piece of equipment that never lets the user down. For those who simply wear it through their "tactical" everyday life: the CARINTHIA Tactical Anorak is also an exclusive and magnificent piece of clothing that looks extremely stylish when you conquer the city for yourself.
The CARINTHIA G-LOFT® Tactical Anorak is available directly from the manufacturer or from all CARINTHIA dealers for 659.90 euros.
