BUNDESWEHR: Home defense practices object protection

Combat shooting, checkpoint training, object protection - until May 3, 2024, homeland defense forces from North Rhine-Westphalia will practice in Münster-Handorf and in the Wahner Heide near Troisdorf Altenrath.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, national and alliance defense has top priority. In the event of defense, the protection of defense-critical infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia is the task of soldiers from the Homeland Defense Regiment 2 in Münster.

"AGILES ROSS" is the exercise with around 180 reservists, which begins at the end of April in Münster with several days of training.

Practical training includes:

• Combat shooting
• Escort of a convoy
• Setting up and controlling a checkpoint

Following the training in Münster, the soldiers will move to the Wahner Heide near Troisdorf Altenrath, near Cologne. Here, the North Rhine-Westphalian part of the nationwide exercise NATIONAL GUARDIAN takes place.

Homeland defense forces from NRW practice their tasks in object protection and area surveillance outside a military security area.

The exercise scenario: The Territorial Command of the Bundeswehr raises the threat level, and attacks are expected. The homeland defense forces guard a defense-critical object. Static and mobile elements are shown during the exercise.
