The XXV Olympic Winter Games 2026 in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy) from February 6 to 22 are casting their shadows ahead. At 13 competition venues, there will be a total of 16 sports with a variety of disciplines. In total, there will be 245 medal events at the Winter Games in Milan Cortina. Athletes from 15 sports are represented by sports soldiers and/or soldiers.
On Tuesday, January 20, the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) announced the final nomination round in Frankfurt am Main. Accordingly, 188 athletes nominated by the DOSB (87 women / 101 men) will represent the German colors as "Team Germany".
For the Bundeswehr, this nomination list is very encouraging. After all, 35 sportswomen and 41 sportsmen from the German Olympic team serve in one of the 14 sports promotion groups of the Bundeswehr. This accounts for around 40% of all athletes competing for Germany.
The elite sports promotion of the Bundeswehr ensures optimal conditions for its athletes for their competitive sports and professional careers. It will also continue to be an important guarantee that the Federal Republic of Germany can maintain a leading position in world sports. Accordingly, the DOSB has declared the elite sports promotion of the Bundeswehr as indispensable in the "National Elite Sports Concept".
On the Bundeswehr.de website, you can already find further background information on the Winter Games in Milan as well as information on elite sports and sports promotion in the Bundeswehr. During the competitions, the Bundeswehr will report HERE daily about the medal wins of the sportswomen and sportsmen and provide a Bundeswehr medal table.
