In love and war, anything is allowed, they say. And let's be honest: in self-defense as well (at least theoretically). In the newly released book "Flashed," Karl Painer explains what "Modern Self-Defense" can look like. It's not about martial arts, rules, and fairness, but about how to defend oneself in extreme situations against attackers who show no mercy. The book describes various possible threat scenarios and how individuals can handle them, it provides tips on what to do with hands and feet, and which everyday tools (newspapers, bottles, keys, ...) can help. The chapter on pepper spray is very important. The section on "Training" is particularly good. In the end: a practical book that provides good tips on how to protect oneself in threatening situations. As always with such books: reading alone is not enough, one must learn and practice the appropriate techniques.
