Eric Micheletti's books are among the best that a military enthusiast can read. Many of them have not been translated from French or English into German, but this one has: With "Froschmänner," Micheletti introduces the combat swimmers of Germany, Italy, and France and provides an intimate look at the current equipment, training, and operations of European amphibious special forces. The book is excellently and extensively illustrated and expertly written. It also traces the history of modern units, including the combat swimmers from World War II. At that time, the Italians were highly successful with this "weapon." It's fascinating to read how much the Germans learned from them. Anyone interested in combat swimmers and their history cannot miss this excellent book.
