Discover the world of European special forces in an in-depth exploration of the ATLAS network by Christoph Lippay. With 400 richly illustrated pages, this book showcases 38 units from 32 countries working together to combat terrorism and organized crime.
Rarely does one see such a concentrated amount of special forces units on the table. Christoph Lippay has created a mega work, in which the entire ATLAS network of European special forces is presented. First as an umbrella organization in its functions, then through its member units.

Accordingly, the front fold is already full of the insignias of the units that are part of it.

And the table of contents is the "Who is Who" of European special forces. In ATLAS, 38 units from 32 countries are connected, working together against terrorism and organized crime.

Every story has a beginning. Here, it is also a story of terror in Europe. Munich 1972 leads to the German police having to consider in the aftermath of the 1968s: how do we react correctly and efficiently to new forms of violence.

ATLAS network is now 20 years old, the book is also an anniversary gift for the association itself. It is published in German and English. Here is the current structure of ATLAS, where special forces coordinate, exchange knowledge, and training.

There are several groups that specialize in very specific topics. Some want to know everything about how to enter buildings...

... others specialize in maritime operations or tactical first aid. Learning is half (over-)life.

ATLAS also works closely with Europol. "Doorkickers" and investigators are only efficient when working together.

A separate chapter in the ATLAS book introduces the equipment, from weapons to vehicles.

Well illustrated and with the most important information.

And then it goes into the network - to the units. These extremely fascinating portraits make up the bulk of the book.

And of course, the COBRA begins. And with spectacular pictures.

Some of the weapon training of the COBRA operators.

The GSG9 is also at the forefront. Here, we only show the cover pages.

And the SEK is also part of ATLAS. Interestingly to see which units have good pictures of themselves.

The Belgians from the DSU are at home on land and water.

And this is what the well-illustrated text pages look like. Lots to see and good, informative texts.

The Swiss, always neutral. Except against terrorism and crime, that's where the intervention units come into resolute action.

Also always exciting to read: the text on the back cover summarizing the book from the perspective of the creators. All in all, just a glimpse into an excellent book that one can read and look at images for hours. And a great tribute to all those who are ready to put their lives on the line every day for freedom and justice.
CONCLUSION: Must-have! Anyone interested in special forces or internal security cannot ignore this book. SPARTANAT reading recommendation! Also fits perfectly under the Christmas tree (although it takes up a lot of space).
