Get a glimpse into Lenze's unique experiences and perspectives in this compelling book.
Enno Lenze is a guy you definitely remember. Like in elementary school, when something happened, and the first confession from everyone is: "The one with the red hair was there." And he is definitely a guy who likes to be there. By the way, the book titled "Fronturlaub" is sort of his autobiography. The first 100 pages tell about his childhood in Africa (his parents were development workers), the journey to Berlin (he was with the Pirate Party), and his real estate purchase (he owns the current Berlin Story Bunker).
And then he spends 150 pages in Kurdistan, because it interested him. "Fronturlaub" happens here in the opposite way, not as "vacation from the front" but as "vacation and to the front". Crisis areas indeed have allure. For volunteers, for people who want to see war live, for the politically interested and journalists - HERE is our report from the front against Daesh near Kirkuk. Lenze follows the traces of the mass murder of the Yazidis, visits the front with the Peshmerga (and gets shot at by ISIS), meets people, heroes, and politicians in Kurdistan. The book is very pleasant and exciting to read, Enno is a good storyteller who brings things to the ground. When looking at the acknowledgments list at the end of the book, one must say that more Kurdistan could have been done. Which would have been even more exciting for us as readers. HERE you can find more stories and reports from Enno in Kurdistan online.
