"America's Elite" by Chris McNab explores the history of US special forces from the American Revolution to present day. The book covers a wide range of conflicts and operations, with a focus on illustrations. It serves as a good introduction for those wanting to learn about American special forces, but may not offer much new for specialists. Available on Amazon for Kindle and in hardcover.
"Rangers lead the way," and they have been doing so for quite a long time. If you want to know exactly how long, Chris McNab's "America's Elite" from Opsprey Publishing is a good choice. Yes, it is a rather general and English-language book, but it provides a good summary from the American Revolution to the present day, from the Rangers to the Navy SEALs, from North America to Korea and Vietnam, and to Europe, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The book is particularly good for its illustrations, which are familiar from various series like Men-at-Arms. If you are not a specialist but want to generally learn about American special forces, this book is a good option. For specialists, there is not much new.
