Does the US Army continue to use the M4?

The US Army is reportedly ending the "Improved Carbine Competition" to stick with the M4 rifle after the failure of the Individual Carbine Competition to find a replacement. The Improved Carbine is the enhanced version of the M4-A1 to be manufactured by FN.

According to a report from Military.com, the US Army is preparing to end the "Improved Carbine Competition." However, we at SPARTANAT believe that this actually refers to the Individual Carbine Competition (ICC), which was supposed to find a replacement for the M4. With the end of the ICC, the Army would be committing to the M4 for the next few years. By the way, the Improved Carbine refers to the latest enhanced version of the M4-A1 (including a heavier barrel), which will be manufactured by FN in the future.
