The Black Hornet by FLIR is one of the smallest drones used in military operations worldwide. Several countries - including Germany, where we have already had it in our hands - have already acquired units and are testing them for their operational purposes. Australia has now chosen this drone and awarded it the contract in the corresponding tender.
With a rotor diameter of only 12 centimeters, it is operated by one person and can be controlled via GPS or live feeds. The flight time is around 25 minutes and the data link range is 1.6 kilometers. Price per unit is reportedly $5,000 according to the latest information.
