Berlin thermal imaging devices for the NATO

The use of thermal imaging technology is crucial in modern conflicts, significantly impacting the balance of power. The Czech armed forces have placed initial orders for thermal imaging devices from Andres Industries AG, showcasing their compactness and modularity.

The use of thermal imaging technology is indispensable in modern conflicts. From individual infantrymen to armored vehicles to drones - the ability to see more than the opponent has a massive impact on the balance of current conflicts. This is evidenced by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. Against this background, many armed forces are currently undergoing a comprehensive modernization of their own night combat capabilities, and the Eastern European NATO member states are particularly affected by the acute threat situation.

Combination of TigIR™and TILO™

After a total of up to 80 devices of the TigIR™ and TILO™ types underwent intensive testing in the Czech armed forces in the last two years, an initial order was placed mid-year for an additional 400 TigIR-6M attachment devices and 26 TILO™-6M thermal imaging goggles from Andres Industries AG (AIAG). Further and significantly larger orders are expected for the coming year. An important factor for the procurement of the Berlin thermal imaging goggles is probably the quick availability of the devices. Thus, Andres Defence, the armaments division of Andres Industries AG, is capable of delivering the required quantities within nine months.

The world's smallest thermal imaging goggles stand out for their compactness and modularity and can be directly mounted on the helmet or used as a small attachment device in front of various target optics. The TigIR™, on the other hand, is a pure thermal imaging attachment device, which, despite its high range of three kilometers, is particularly compact and lightweight.

Medium-sized companies as security guarantors

Especially in times of crisis, the advantages of medium-sized companies in the security and defense industry as reliable providers of urgently needed materials become apparent. Unlike large arms manufacturers, there are still sufficient production capacities available here, and the greater flexibility also enables a rapid response to specific requirements in the shortest possible time. A procurement concept that bears fruit.

Other NATO countries are already following the example set by Prague and planning to procure AIAG devices in similar large quantities from 2023. Just a few days ago, Andres Industries was awarded a contract for a tender from the Estonian Ministry of Defense to equip 66 sniper rifles with the TigIR™. This is also the first lot of a long-term procurement initiative.
