UNPACKED: The new ZENTAURON Vulcan III

We are pleased to introduce you to this plate carrier: Vulcan III is the latest generation of the plate carrier from ZENTAURON. The gear forge has completely redesigned the classic Vulcan PC and elevated it to a new level. The Vulcan III is equipped with ZenTubes (ROC buckles) on the shoulder straps and cummerbund. This allows it to be put on and taken off extremely quickly. The ZenTubes also function as a quick release system for emergencies. The quick release system is not only advantageous for the wearer, but also provides the medic with easy access to the patient.
The plate pockets for hard and soft ballistic are separated. The ballistic provided by the service fits into the plate inserts. The compartment for soft ballistic is padded with 3D MESH on the body-facing side. The wearing comfort can also be expanded with additional padding (Hivent). The Vulcan III is fully flexible due to MOLLE loops on the front and back as well as on the cummerbund: Depending on requirements, various magazine and multipurpose pockets can be attached.

The front plate pocket

On the outside of the Vulcan III plate pocket there are 4x3 MOLLE loops with hook and loop fasteners. IR and ID patches can be attached, as well as cables from radios can be run through. Underneath, there are more MOLLE loops for attaching magazine and multipurpose pockets. Externally, vertical straps are attached on the left and right for fastening cables and other items. The receptacles for the quick-release system ZenTubes (ROC) are secured with bars for special stability. The inside is padded with 3D mesh fabric for good wearing comfort and ventilation. The pockets of the plate carriers are opened and closed via velcro.

Inside is the compartment for soft or non-ballistic armor, which is simply inserted and closed with velcro. The compartment for hard ballistic armor is located on the outside, where the SK4 plate is housed. A 50mm strap is sewn to secure the SK4 plate. The lower abdomen protection and front pocket can also be mounted on the velcro of the SK4 plate pocket.

The setting can be quickly adapted for any operation with the optional V3 MOLLE flap and V3 magazine flap. The MOLLE flaps are attached to the plate carrier via loops with velcro. Another variant is the attachment via QASM buckles or G-hooks, which allows the flaps to be used as quick-change flaps.

The rear plate pocket

On the outside are again 4x3 MOLLE loops with velcro, and vertical straps are processed towards the outside. To improve wearing comfort, the plate pocket is equipped with additional padding on the shoulder straps. The mounting system for the cummerbund is located on the lower half of the plate pocket.
The cummerbund is attached to horizontally running MOLLE straps and fixed with elastic cords. The size is adjusted via the strap loops on the cummerbund and the straps of the plate pocket. This provides a 2x12cm adjustment range for size adjustment. Further equipment can of course be mounted on the horizontal MOLLE loops.

The receptacle for hard and soft ballistic is identical to the front plate pocket.
The rear plate pocket also has a velcro fastener for ZENTAURON weight transfer. This allows the Vulcan III plate carrier to be attached to the combat belt, the officially supplied MOBAST system, and some other belts, such as those from LHT.

How are ROCs used?

The quick-release system with ZenTubes is based on ROC buckles, which are simple and intuitive to use. This new closure system automatically equips the Vulcan III plate carrier with a quick release system. The ZenTubes are provided with a rubberized cord for better grip. The mechanism is triggered by pulling the cord away from the body and upwards.

The cummerbund is equipped on the outside with 6x3 MOLLE loops, providing space for IFAK, smoke grenade, and multipurpose pockets. Inside the cummerbund, the ballistic soft inserts can be placed, as well as equipment such as the Sigpi (signal pistol of the Bundeswehr) and radios.

The shoulder strap

The shoulder straps are also equipped with ZenTubes quick release on the front and are attached to the rear plate pocket by plastic connectors. The length of the straps can be adjusted continuously via the velcro surface. Wearing comfort can be slightly enhanced with the optimal universal shoulder pads and shoulder pads. Additional accessories, such as upper arm and neck protection, can be attached to the shoulder straps.

Attachment of lower abdomen protection and front pocket to the Vulcan III

Attaching lower abdomen protection and front pocket for a plate carrier is done via the velcro surfaces of the front plate pocket. The velcro surfaces are connected, then closed together with the plate pocket. This minimizes the space between the torso and the lower abdomen as much as possible.
