From KMW and Nexter, KNDS is formed.

KNDS, the German-French merger of the land system companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Nexter, is unifying its brand presence. KMW, Nexter, and their subsidiaries will now operate exclusively under the brand KNDS. This emphasizes KNDS's claim as a driving force in the necessary consolidation of the European industry for military land systems. The industry has so far been characterized by numerous national manufacturers offering a variety of products and systems.

Their integration and joint strategic control will significantly contribute to the standardized equipment of the land forces of Europe and the customers of the European defense industry.
