A Centauro B1 tank destroyer has been visually confirmed on the Ukrainian front by the 78th Separate Airborne Regiment. Footage from Airborne Forces Day reveals these vehicles equipped with improvised protective measures, including anti-drone screens, to mitigate the effects of FPV drones and shaped charge attacks.
There it is, a Centauro B1 tank destroyer, spotted on the Ukrainian front, presented by the press service of the 78th Separate Airborne Regiment. This is the first visual confirmation of the presence and deployment of the wheeled armored vehicle, following earlier reports.
Footage released on Airborne Forces Day shows Centauro B1s equipped with various improvised protective measures to mitigate the effects of FPV drones and shaped charge attacks. In the video, the hull and turret of each vehicle are surrounded by anti-drone screens – a basket-like mesh structure that does not block the gun or hatches. According to the unit's statement, the metal mesh and a layer of fabric are designed to weaken the explosive effect of incoming ammunition and shift the detonation point of attacking FPV drones away from the armor.
