Sophie ULTIMA likes it warm. And you can see a lot with it in the battle zone. It gets even better with GO 12. When thinking of radar, one often envisions large dishes that detect airplanes. However, this is only partially true, as there are also compact ground radar systems, like the GO 12 from THALES, which can locate everything from tanks to people.
GO12 is an abbreviation that stands for Ground Observer 12. It can detect individuals up to 12 km away and vehicles up to 30 km away within a 360° area. Of course, this is only possible under optimal terrain conditions, much like the range of radio.
The GO12 is relatively easy to operate with the software; here, areas and scanning patterns can be easily set and displayed live on the situational map.
Especially exciting is the interaction with the Sophie ULTIMA from THALES. When mounted on a motorized tripod and a data connection is established, everything can be programmed so that when the ground radar detects something, the Sophie ULTIMA is automatically aimed at the target. This allows for immediate target observation over several kilometers. Truly impressive.
