The range of plate carriers has a threefold division: heavier systems with good padding – such as the AVS or the K19 –, normal sizes that are lightweight – like the JPC or the K-Zero – and then there's the variant that is not very modular and without MOLLE. That's where the Slick comes in – just "smooth," because it has no MOLLE. AGILITE has now completed the system triad and delivers a Slick on steroids – the Sub-Zero. It already looks very complete. Slick here is not meant to be reduced, but still a lightweight plate carrier that offers everything needed for deployment.
At the top, there is plenty of Velcro and the V-shaped straps that ensure load distribution on the AGILITE plate carriers.
Below is a full-fledged belly load: a Pincer magazine pouch on a placard, attached with G-hooks and then secured with Velcro.
In front of the convenient Pincer for secure magazine retention, an extra MOLLE panel is strapped on that can be configured. The belly load makes the Sub-Zero fully combat-ready.
The cumberbund is not only flexible, but also has slots for radio or magazines.
Quick donning and doffing is required: hence a quick release on the cumberbund, another one on the shoulder.
This is how the AGILITE Slick looks completely naked. For those who only want to wear plates for protection without equipment, this fits perfectly, and you can also layer a chest rig on top.
The cumberbund, with Velcro attached front and back, has three slots and two MOLLE strips for whatever you want. Magazines are practical there, but hard to reach.
By the way, the placard is repeated on the Sub-Zero, found on the front and back. So you could also configure the panel on the back with pockets.
In the back, the placard mainly covers the Velcro surfaces for the cumberbund.
Several layers are stacked on top of each other, ideal for flexible width adjustments.
And the cumberbund itself is also adjustable.
This is how the shoulder area looks. Important for comfort while wearing. It's good to have a little more room. For more comfort, you can add padding.
The length adjustment to ensure the plates sit well happens here with Velcro.
The straps work well together here to guarantee the ideal fit.
This is the inside. Here you can see the length adjustment with annotations from AGILITE. CONCLUSION: A Slick is a practical solution for anyone in need of a plate carrier. The Sub-Zero can be upgraded to a fully operational carrier. A good, lightweight plate carrier that is ready for deployment. The Sub-Zero comes without the optional placards, magazine pouches or IFAK, which can be seen here in the pictures.
The AGILITE Sub-Zero Slick Plate Carrier is available directly from the manufacturer or from any company that distributes AGILITE.
