Everything is bananas for Germany: Germany will buy 60 heavy transport helicopters of the CH-47F Chinook type from Boeing worth around 5 billion euros (5.40 billion dollars), reported the newspaper "Bild am Sonntag" citing government sources.
The helicopters are to be financed from the planned 100 billion euro special fund for the military announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the newspaper reported. The tender for the new transport helicopters has been ongoing for some time. The Chinook has thus prevailed over the CH-53 from Sikorsky. More information about the Boeing CH-47F.
