Frankonia Shooting Team shoots Haenel CR223

10/13/2021By Redaktion

The Frankonia Shooting Team now shoots the Haenel CR223 in IPSC sports competitions: Steven Kummer, Arne Lentz, Jörg Haben, and Nils Nothnagel will now use the sport version of the self-loading rifle from Suhl for dynamic shooting.

For the team consisting of Steven Kummer, Arne Lentz, Jörg Haben, and Nils Nothnagel, long guns are not completely new territory, and of course, all four are highly skilled shooters - nevertheless, entering a new class is a challenge, as Nils Nothnagel admits: "We are working on it, and we are really excited about it." It is important that the ergonomics of the weapon are precisely tailored to the competitor. In a workshop at C.G. Haenel in Suhl, the four sharpshooters have now made contact with the traditional manufacturer.

Björn Dräger (Head of Sales - Public Authorities at Haenel) and his staff introduced the athletes to the company and the philosophy behind the CR223: "I think we were both amazed. The team by the precision and depth of manufacturing - from the cold-forged barrel to the adjustment of interfaces. And us by how concrete and professional the shooters have already prepared." This even went down to weapon care. Haenel has provided a special Ballistol range for this. Dräger: "We know that a lot goes through the barrel of IPSC shooters - so weapon care cannot be neglected." He also jokingly refers to the piston system and the resulting ease of cleaning of the weapon.

The competition CR223 of the Frankonia Shooting Team is being assembled in a special configuration tailored during the workshop in Suhl. The optics for the CR223 come from Steiner, the Swiss suppressor and interface specialist B&T helps with the adjustment of ergonomics and suppressor, EAW provides the mounts for the target optics, and Sellier & Bellot the ammunition. With a tuned weapon in hand, they then headed to the shooting range at Haenel for their first test.

Jörg Haben expressed optimism after shooting: "Good configuration, good rifle - now it's up to us to get used to it and fine-tune everything." Björn Dräger from Haenel is looking forward to the first season: "Of course, we want to compete at the top. But this sport is also fun - and we learn a lot about the sports shooter customer." All information about the Haenel CR223 on the manufacturer's website.
