REVIEW: Behring Made Technical F-1

10/22/2014By Redaktion

Heavy and robust yet sharp and agile. The Technical F-1 by Behring Made feels good in the hand and looks quite grounded for a tactical knife. This may be due to the Micarta handle with its carved aesthetics, or perhaps it is the wide blade of this 30-centimeter long knife, available in Germany at G-GEAR, that makes it seem both cozy and dangerous.

The F1 by Behring Made also comes with an unusual Kydex sheath, but more on that later. The full tang blade features a surface finish more commonly seen in weapon technology: OD Green in Cerakote.

The drop-shaped "blood groove" is a stylistic element that catches the eye. The blade is 17.5 centimeters long with a thickness of 7.5 millimeters. This knife can stab and slash with its weight and mass. The unique combination of leather and Kydex in the hunting knife from Behring Made is reflected in the design. Advantage: leather does not add bulk. The knife can be carried vertically or horizontally flat on the belt loop.

The Kydex sheath covers the handle of the knife very high. It can still be drawn easily, but it is well protected against loss. Those who do not want the uniqueness of leather on Kydex can also attach other systems to the Kydex sheath.

CONCLUSION: Behring Made is actually known for its high-quality hunting knives. With the Behring Made Technicals, the US knife manufacturer, available in Germany at G-GEAR, is launching a new line of tactical knives. The knives are not forged, but stamped, and then handcrafted and of high quality. Even the handle screws are "Made in the USA." The result is a durable tactical knife that is as robust as it is aesthetically pleasing.

You can find the Behring Made Technical F-1 at G-GEAR for 380 euros.
