On April 1st, Crye introduced a unique G3 combat uniform on social media, where the company's iconic Multicam pattern was replaced by a stone-washed fabric in the style of the 1980s. Fans of the uniform manufacturer thought the set was an April Fool's joke and called it "Canadian Marines' dress blues" and "Crye Canadian Tuxedo."
Crye now says the uniform is very real. The company has announced that they will auction off a set of the light blue uniform and donate the proceeds to the Special Operations Care Fund (SOC-F). The SOC-F is dedicated to supporting members of special operations and their families medically, financially, and in other ways. "We launched this campaign because you can win one of two very limited edition uniforms and the proceeds will benefit the SOC-F," said Ernesto Rodriguez, Marketing Director of Crye Precision. "We are trying to help as many charities for war veterans as possible."
