Terror on TV: Caliphate

A mother is faced with a big dilemma. With her, a student and an ambitious policewoman are involved in an upcoming IS attack on Sweden. NETFLIX has launched a new series: "Kalifat" delves into the world of the Islamic State's terror - in Syria, but also in Sweden.

The beginning of the story: For Pervin (Gizem Erdogan) it is clear: she must leave the country, get away from Syria, somewhere safe, even only for the sake of her small child that she must keep safe. However, her husband Hasum (Amed Bozan) wants nothing to do with it. On the contrary: as a member of ISIS, he is on the front lines and wants to destroy the unbelievers. Fatima (Aliette Opheim), on the other hand, wants to prevent exactly that. That is why the Swedish policewoman suggests a deal to Pervin: she should find out everything about the attack and the mysterious traveler (Lancelot Ncube), in return for being promised an escape to Sweden. The traveler, on the other hand, has long since reached his destination and has enlisted students Sulle (Nora Rios) and Kerima (Amanda Sohrabi) for his purposes...

"Kalifat" is extremely well made and also very impressive. It tells the story of young people who want to fight, discover ideals, get lost, want to make terror, or want to escape from terror. "Kalifat" is also exciting because it is actually told through the stories of all female main characters. NETFLIX has just launched the first season of the Swedish series.
