A400 BB by ACTA NON VERBA KNIVES

04/18/2025By Hubert

ACTA NON VERBA KNIVES (ANV) has immortalized the unique character of the M200 HARDTASK knife, which has proven itself over the years, in a robust, foldable EDC model. It is intended to stand by the user as a loyal EDC companion. The A400 BB seamlessly transforms the robust functionality of the knife referred to as M200 HARDTASK into a versatile, foldable EDC tool (Everyday Carry). As part of an in-depth analysis, the knife was scrutinized by SPARTANAT .

The box that the A400 BB arrives in features a placard showing the entire ANV KNIVES portfolio on the inside of the lid. This is a good idea as it increases the viewer's desire for further products of the ANV brand.

The A400 BB is 248 millimeters long when open and 144 millimeters when closed. The weight of the knife is 143 grams.

The blade of the A400 BB model is made using cryogenically hardened Udeholm Sleipner steel with a hardness of 60 HRC.

The blade measures 105 mm in length and 3 mm in thickness.

The blade of the A400 BB has a slight recurve approach, which is evident upon closer inspection. This specific recurve grind particularly suits the folder for processing items with round surfaces and for cutting ropes. Additionally, a DLC layer is applied during the manufacturing process, which is characterized by high heat resistance and durability.

The blade opens quickly thanks to a ball-bearing mechanism combined with a practical flipper featuring the characteristic ANV Lumidot.

The flipper can be operated from the left or right. This makes the opening of the knife more convenient and easier.

Opening and closing the knife with just one hand.

As with the M200 HT model, the A400 BB model also feature a notch for the fire steel.

Additionally, the folding knife has a pronounced profile on the blade back, which serves to increase thumb grip.

The handle of the folder measures up to 20 mm in width and is made of 3D-milled G10 material. It is reinforced with steel liners along its entire length. Handling the A400 BB proves comfortable and effective even in demanding and tough tasks. High grip security is ensured even in moist working environments.

The ANV Lock locking system ensures reliable security in both open and closed positions.

The lock is firmly and securely closed.

Furthermore, the A400 BB features characteristic elements such as contrasting spacers.

A discreet wire clip can be attached on the left or right side.

The discreet clip ensures safe carry in the Deep-Carry Reversible version in the pocket.

In the Field

We love to test and have subjected the A400 BB to a variety of materials. The knife cuts through ropes and straps well. The recurved blade makes it possible. Why is the blade dirty with soil? We dug some holes with it and then did the cutting tests.

A test with the knife clearly showed us the stability of the blade lock.

How about the folder with batoning? Yes, the blade and the entire knife really can withstand a lot, just like the M200 HARDTASK.

So the A400 BB is very suitable for robust missions.

The notch for the fire steel is a very practical device.

Clear traces after using the fire steel. Don't worry, it will go away and won't affect either the DLC layer or the sharpness of the blade.

The blade is still sharp after working so hard.

The thumb ramp above the ANV logo is also easy to feel with the glove. This allows the blade to be guided very well during robust work and pressure to be exerted.

The folder can be guided well in different grips and thus worked with. Here in the ice pick grip.

Handling of the A400 BB in the saber grip

The knife is also very maneuverable in the Filipino grip.

The A400 BB was used as an EDC for several weeks. It was used a lot for cutting and working. During the SPARTAN RACE, it went through thick and thin, over obstacles, through water and mud. It was also exposed to various weather conditions. The spark traces that occur when working with the fire steel are clearly visible.

The A400 BB  can be easily cleaned and sharpened after use. The spark traces that occurred during the fire steel test were unable to harm the DLC layer.

CONCLUSION

The A400 BB from ACTA NON VERBA KNIVES is a robust and versatile EDC knife (Everyday Carry) designed for demanding requirements. Its robust design and high-quality workmanship make it suitable for anyone who wants to get out of everyday life or into outdoor adventures.

The unique character of the popular M200 HARDTASK has been transferred into a powerful EDC model that makes no compromises. The M200 HARDTASK character in the EDC model A400 BB is a successful implementation. And on top of that, it's damn beautiful.

The present knife A400 BB from the brand ACTA NON VERBA KNIVES can be purchased directly in this shop for 208 euros. It is also available at all authorized dealers who carry knives from the brand ANV.
