ACV-30 test vehicles for the US Marines

08/17/2022By Redaktion

The U.S. Marine Corps has awarded BAE Systems a contract worth $88 million to build multiple ACV-30 Production Representative Test Vehicles (PRTVs). After delivery, the PRTVs will undergo a testing phase before a decision is made on serial production.

The ACV-30 is equipped with a stabilized, medium-caliber turret system from manufacturer KONGSBERG. The 30mm RT-20 is a remotely controlled and operated weapon system that enhances crew protection. The remote turret eliminates the space required by Legacy Lethality systems, providing more room for troop transport or essential equipment and reducing weight for improved mobility.

The ACV represents an optimal balance between sea and land mobility and survivability, with potential for future growth. The ACV evolved from the combination of BAE Systems' amphibious vehicles and Iveco Defence Vehicles' decades-long experience in manufacturing over 30,000 armored multipurpose vehicles.

The ACV-30 is one of four variants in the ACV vehicle family. BAE Systems has a contract for a Personnel variant (ACV-P), a Command variant (ACV-C), and Recovery variant (ACV-R). Additionally, BAE Systems has been tasked by the U.S. Marine Corps to conduct a study on integrating a payload for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers/unmanned aerial systems into a variant of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV).
