Rheinmetall delivers ammunition for multiple rocket launchers

03/04/2024By Redaktion

Rheinmetall has been awarded a contract to deliver artillery rockets for a European NATO member state's multiple rocket launchers (Lead image: symbolic image unrelated to the product). Delivery is scheduled between 2024 and 2027. The contract value for Rheinmetall amounts to over 300 million EUR net and was already booked in December 2023.

Rheinmetall Expal Munitions is responsible within the Rheinmetall Group for the production and delivery of rockets covering a range spectrum of up to 300 km. The order also includes additional services and systems.

This is the first contract success for Rheinmetall as part of the strategic portfolio expansion into the field of rocket artillery. Only on February 12, 2024, in the presence of Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Unterlüß, Lower Saxony, the symbolic groundbreaking for a new factory was set, where, in addition to explosives and artillery ammunition, components for rocket artillery are also to be produced.

In the field of artillery systems, 120mm smoothbore technology for main battle tanks, cannon-based air defense, and the production of medium caliber ammunition, Rheinmetall is a globally leading provider. Since the beginning of its over 125-year history, Rheinmetall has been a reliable partner of the artillery, with seamless barrels being used in the production of guns. In the field of ammunition, Rheinmetall offers a comprehensive range of ammunition in various calibers today.

The recent orders in the field of rocket artillery and 155mm artillery ammunition once again emphasize Rheinmetall's leading technological position in ammunition development and production in Europe. Regarding artillery ammunition, framework contracts contribute to the secure supply of the Bundeswehr and other NATO forces. This enables better planning of production processes and optimal utilization of capacities.
