Zentauron relies on ZenTubes.

02/06/2018By Redaktion

Scratch scratch ... this sound accompanies you when you have to wear plate carriers for work or privately. The protection is nice, but the durability of the vest is guaranteed quite simply: with simple velcro. We do not dare to prophesy whether its times are coming to an end, but there is a clear trend towards alternatives in the gear world. For example, plate carriers with Cobra buckles guarantee this - HERE we asked AustriAlpin about it. Nice and expensive, once you have the price of these buckles in mind.

The revolution in the segment came from the USA by First Spear, who invented plastic buckles with their Tubes that take over the work of velcro on the chest and shoulders. And at the same time serves as a quick release system. In Germany, Lindnerhof Taktik followed suit with a similar, but specially developed quick release system. Zentauron now offers its ZenTubes.

In the original, these buckles are called "Rapid Open Connector": the name describes exactly how they function. The ZenTube can be unlocked and opened with just one hand movement. The approximately 6cm long rubberized cord is pulled away from the body to unlock and guided upwards to uncouple. The advantage: the plate carrier can be quickly put on and taken off without having to trigger a complex disassembly mechanism that then has to be painstakingly reassembled

This system also works for the shoulders. Zentauron offers retrofit systems for both the chest and shoulders which even work with plate carriers from other manufacturers that lack this feature. Currently available are:

HERE the ZenTube shoulder straps.

HERE the ZenTube cummerbund (ballistic).

HERE the ZenTube cummerbund (slim). In tactical operations, it is no longer noticeable that a different locking system is being used. But most importantly, the plate carrier is equipped with a quick release system.

In emergencies, shoulder straps and cummerbund can be opened in seconds, which proves to be an advantage in situations where injuries need to be treated. The wounded individual can be freed from his plate carrier with just a few simple steps to treat him. The putting on goes just as easily and saves strength and time in providing care. HERE we have already extensively discussed the sense and nonsense of "normal" quick releases.
