The shocking news about the fall of KUNDUZ has brought back a lot in me. For a long time, falling asleep was difficult. Situations, friends, and brothers came to visit. We chatted nonsense, joked, and suddenly only the dark ceiling. The scene vanished. It's been years now and yet still so present. I have long been wearing sneakers in the morning instead of boots, but I still feel them, even just thinking about it.

I am grateful that the fear never materialized. Glad that they are only impressions that remind and make me smile, like smells, songs, or like recently an air conditioner from the same manufacturer as in our camp. The annoying buzzing, I had completely forgotten about it. I am glad I don't have flashbacks. That the comrades, friends, and brothers whom I still think about every day, do not visit me every night. I am glad to be home. Therefore, I want to remember those who are still there, even though some of us no longer wear a uniform.
