Vienna 0211: Us Against Terror

As one of the terrorists walks through the city center shooting, a curious resident films him from his house. And he knows what is in front of him, someone walking through the alleys with a weapon to murder people. And as a perpetrator, ready to die later himself. "Schleich di, du Oaschloch," the man shouts to the terrorist in Viennese dialect (Standard German: "Hau ab, du Arschloch").

Vienna - an ISIS attack

It is a helpless cry, but an honest one. The terrorist probably understood the call as well. He is the 20-year-old K.F., born in Vienna Mödling, of Albanian background, affiliated with the Islamist scene, previously stood trial in Vienna in 2019 for suspected terrorism - but released as rehabilitated. He wanted to join ISIS in Syria. His arrest in Turkey may have saved his life back then, a life he has now thrown away on the streets of Vienna's city center after becoming a murderer himself.

The asshole posted his own picture before the attack.

On November 2, 2020, the asshole struck after posting a picture of himself and his weapons on Telegram and pledging allegiance, the Bayah, to the Islamic State. At the moment (as of 3:00 pm), the tally from Vienna is one dead attacker, with a search underway for other accomplices (it is unclear if they exist). 14 young Islamists from K.F.'s circle have been arrested after 18 house searches. Four dead and 22 injured. What a few assholes can do...

People helping others

What Vienna also is: many emergency responders who were at the scene as quickly as possible to save lives selflessly. There are also policemen who were not on duty but immediately grabbed their protective vests and weapons to come to help in the city center. And people who let other people into their apartments so they could get off the streets immediately and avoid encountering the murderers.
