In February 2019, the US Army approved a procurement project for the purchase of 649 Infantry Squad Vehicles (ISV). The goal is for the vehicle to transport nine soldiers with up to 2.5 tons of payload through terrain. Now there is a winner: The ISV from General Motors. It has prevailed against the two competitors, the DAGOR from Polaris and the Flyer from Osh-Kosh/General Dynamics.
The Polaris DAGOR is in service with the 82nd Airborne Division and the Flyer GMV 1.1 is in use by USSOCOM and the 173rd Airborne Brigade. After testing, the US Army concluded that for the "regular" infantry, the ISV from General Motors (GM) is exactly the right choice.
The GM ISV is powered by a 186 horsepower 2.8-liter diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. The nine-man crew is protected by a rollover protection system. The vehicle is suitable for air transport.
