Special Training Command:

Ukrainians trained in Germany

05/20/2025By Redaktion

The Special Training Command (ST-C) of the EU Training Mission EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM UA) in Strausberg has reached a significant milestone: Since the beginning of the mission in autumn 2022, training personnel from a total of 11 nations have trained and further educated over 20,000 members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) on German territory in various military specializations.

Russia’s unlawful war of aggression against Ukraine violates its territorial integrity and has plunged an entire country into an unwanted war. The Bundeswehr has been participating in the training mission EUMAM UA since October 2022 to contribute to strengthening the Ukrainian Armed Forces - for the freedom of Ukraine and peace in Europe.

Training at a High Level – Coordinated from Strausberg

The ST-C in Strausberg coordinates all training activities of EUMAM UA in Germany as a multinational command element. The focus is on a realistic, operations-oriented training concept. Members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trained six days a week, twelve hours a day, in modules such as infantry tactics, minefield clearance, casualty evacuation, and military leadership.

Major General Olaf Rohde, commander of the ST-C, emphasizes: “The best possible training of Ukrainian soldiers is a decisive contribution to Ukraine’s defense capability – it strengthens not only military capabilities but also mutual trust.”

Looking Ahead: Training for Trainers

In the coming months, the focus will be on training Ukrainian trainers and leaders to enhance the capacity for independent training within Ukraine. “This mission is more than a task for us – it is a commitment to the freedom of Ukraine, and for peace in Europe. As long as necessary, we will support Ukraine,” Major General Rohde continued.
