Turkish soldiers are getting a new weapon: the MKEK MPT-76. This shows Turkey's continued resistance to using 5.56x45mm as standard ammunition and sticking with 7.62x51mm NATO (there was also a prototype in the smaller caliber, but after feedback from the troops, the heavier ammunition was preferred).
