CZECH REPUBLIC: The GDR was there

05/12/2024By Redaktion

A Czech investigation has confirmed that the explosions in weapon depots in the village of Vrbětice in 2014 were carried out by members of the Russian military intelligence (GRU).

The aim was to prevent the delivery of weapons and ammunition to areas where the Russian army conducts its operations – especially in Syria and Ukraine. Above is the aftermath of the explosion in Vrbětice, December 11, 2014 This was stated by the head of the National Center for Combating Organized Crime of the Police of the Czech Republic, Jiří Mazánek.

At the same time, the police had to close the case because Russia refused to cooperate with the Czech investigations.

The names of the GRU officers are not mentioned in the police report, but former investigators named Anatoli Chepiga and Alexander Mishkin. Britain believes they were involved in the poisoning of former Soviet spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury in 2018. HERE at THE INSIDER the background story on the GRU's work in the Czech Republic.
