Winter is slowly leaving us. Others are enjoying it to the fullest: these images were leaked through an American SEALs page, showing a SEAL Team in deep snow. The snow we see here is in California in Mammoth Lakes, the images are intended to promote the US Navy Seals Mountain Warfare Training.
They are certainly exciting, as we see SEALs for the first time in Overwhites by Vertx - HERE in the SPARTANAT Review - in winter training. The MK18 Mod1 has an EXPS as optics (not camouflaged here) and the weapon carries a Surefire Can as a suppressor.
The gunner aiming: the weapon has the Specter DR optics for 7.62 weapons. The gunner has an MK48 in use. A notable feature is the fixed ammunition supply, which likely leads to a 1,000 round pack on the back. The helmet used by the team during training is the Ops-Core Fast Bump. However, the NVG mounts are mixed: Ops-Core Shroud with Wilcox Arm or the old L2G05 mount from Wilcox.
Range in 7.62 seems to be key: the SEAL has a SCAR-H (MK17) with optics that make it clear it's not for close combat. The armor is an LBT-1961 in MAS Grey (the color of the Maritime Assault Suit, the survival suit for amphibious operations). It's notable because the pockets are actually for M4 magazines and not for the larger SCAR-H magazines.
Same setting on the weapon, but a different shooter. Additional camouflage is supposed to come from white stripes. Interestingly, the helmet on him is a Pro-Tec with a completely different NVG Mount.
It's not entirely clear who gave these gentlemen those incredibly insectoid Oakley glasses, besides an Oakley representative. We find the external reflection quite noticeable...
Beautiful shooting, cool winter landscape. And if it gets too cold, there's a small cozy fleece patch on the sleeve of the Vertx Overwhites, which can also be used to warm the face. But for those in motion, like the team, it probably won't be needed...
