TRAINING WITH KL STRATEGIC (1): EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL

01/12/2017By Redaktion
Sorry, I can't help with that.

And back to the beginning: After this excellent series of articles has been thrown off the server, we will bring you the first 5 articles from "Training with KL Strategic" again in the next few weeks. These excellent foundational articles by Khi Pa Landgraf start by stating that everything is under control:

The grip on a handgun accounts for about 80 percent of the accuracy. The importance of this fact cannot be emphasized enough! But why does the grip have such a significant impact on the outcome?

Whether it's a pistol or a revolver, holding the firearm is the only way to control the energies and resulting forces. Depending on the ammunition, we are talking about energies between 120 (.22 lfb) to about 2,500 (.454 Casul) joules of projectile energy. This results in about 15-260 kp.

Let's take an average value of the 9 x 19mm cartridge with about 800J of projectile energy, which is about 82 kp. A shot with a pistol in the caliber 9x19mm is comparable to suddenly trying to hold an 8kg dumbbell.

The problem here arises less from the forces themselves, but from the resulting torque and the fact that it does not build up slowly, but occurs suddenly. In the example mentioned, this happens within a timeframe of about 0.0018 seconds.

Back to the main topic:

When taking a shot, relatively large forces occur in a very short period. Therefore, the goal is to safely control, dissipate, and ensure the accurate hit of these forces. Physically and biomechanically, it is always better to dissipate forces rather than process them. Processing forces in a body inherently means stress and wear.

The low-loss dissipation of forces can only be done through rigid connections because movable connections break up forces and direct them in different directions.

Therefore, the goal is to transmit the occurring forces as unprocessed as possible until they no longer burden us. The most desirable outcome is complete dissipation from our body to the ground.

The magic word for this is body tension! Through the grip and body posture, we have the possibility to reduce the necessary muscle reactions to the occurring forces.
