Timney Triggers rocks the Glock

02/03/2021By Redaktion

Timney Triggers is celebrating its 75th anniversary with the launch of a new trigger series named Timney Alpha Competition. As the oldest and largest trigger manufacturer in the world, Timney has firmly established itself in the aftermarket and is embarking on a new chapter with the Alpha series.

The first trigger in the series is designed for the Glock Generation 3 and 4, revolutionizing the trigger of the world's most proven pistol. Timney is fulfilling a decades-long request from its loyal customers who have been asking for a trigger for the Glock that combines the reliability of the Glock system with the feel of a match pistol trigger. A trigger like a 1911 pistol for the Glock – is it even possible?

Due to its design, a Glock trigger like this has not been possible in the past. Enthusiastic Glock shooters know all too well the creeping trigger characteristic of the legendary service weapon from Austria. The standard trigger must partially retract the firing pin before each shot, leading to a spongy breakpoint and a creeping trigger characteristic. Many aftermarket trigger manufacturers have tried to minimize these disadvantages in the past through friction-reducing coatings, special spring sets, or polishing. Timney, however, leverages their experience from 75 successful years in the market and creates a revolutionary solution.

Using a newly developed receiver unit in the trigger housing, the Timney Alpha Competition trigger keeps the Glock firing pin fully cocked, allowing for a clean 3lbs trigger pull without any creep. Combined with the shortened take-up, the newly designed trigger return spring, and the straight aluminum trigger shoe, Timney has created a trigger with true match characteristics. Shane Coley, multiple U.S. Champion and Team Glock Captain, was directly involved in the development. Competition shooters will be thrilled by the new Timney Alpha Competition Trigger, as well as sports shooters who were not convinced by the Glock standard trigger.

Another important point: the trigger and firing pin safety of the Glock are not compromised by the new trigger. The safety and reliability of the weapon remain intact, which is a crucial criterion for Glock owners. Timney states that during development, a 10,000 round stress test was completed without any malfunctions. Since nearly all parts of the new trigger are nickel-Teflon coated original Glock parts, this is not surprising.

Timney Triggers is proud that every trigger is hand-assembled, tested, and calibrated before leaving the workshops in Arizona. And they have been doing this for 75 years! Made in the USA.

For the installation of the new Alpha Competition trigger, only a Glock tool or punch is needed. The installation is literally "drop-in" and uncomplicated. The first Alpha series fits the following Glock standard models:
GEN 3: G17, G17L, G19, G22, G24, G23, G34, G35
GEN 4: G17, G19, G22, G23, G34,G35

The price at importer Ferkinghoff International is 199.95 euros. More models from the Alpha series, such as those for the Glock GEN 5, will follow.
