Rheinmetall and the US drone manufacturer AeroVironment have teamed up for a project involving special forces of a NATO member state. Rheinmetall Technical Publications GmbH and AeroVironment are applying in a selection process for a small drone for special forces and infantry applications.
The small drone should be quickly deployable, able to be hand-launched, and should not exceed ten kilograms of takeoff weight. The required operational range is 30 kilometers.
Rheinmetall and AeroVironment complement each other ideally in this challenging defense project to develop and offer a convincing solution. AeroVironment is a leading company in the development and production of unmanned aerial systems and can provide a suitable drone with the PumaTM 3 AE system. The PUMA system is already in use in many armed forces and with its modular concept, it provides the ideal basis for such a special forces small drone. All information about the Puma 3 AE System directly from AeroVironment.
Rheinmetall Technical Publications is a system integrator for tactical drones and a certified aviation technical operation. Due to its long-standing experience, it possesses the specific know-how required for the introduction, support, and customization of drone systems.
