The square knot - called Square Knot or Reef Knot in English - is a simple knot and is suitable for connecting two ropes with the same diameter. If the ropes have different diameters, this knot should not be used, as it will not hold. Another very practical application is tying a triangular scarf or shoelaces together so that they do not come undone. Now to the tying instructions:
First a little saying to remember: "Left over Right, Right over Left." Basically, this is the instruction, if you do Left over Right twice (or vice versa) you get what many know as the "Granny Knot" or "Button" knot. It holds as well, but not as securely, and once tightened under load, it is not as easy to untie.
Now the self-explanatory picture series. Take the blue Paracord (left) over the orange Paracord (right) and wrap it around once.
Bend both ends upwards and once again place the blue over the orange Paracord (right over left) and wrap it around once.
…and the square knot is done. Secure, stable, and with some room to spare.
For added security, you can tie an Overhand Knot with the ends, as shown in the image. This prevents the ends from slipping through, which is very practical when the rope is wet. HERE you can find the link again to the video on YouTube, because moving images are sometimes better
