Storm box for German special forces

04/01/2016By Redaktion

Special tasks require special solutions. The German Special Forces - KSK and combat swimmers - are now introducing the "Sturmbox" as part of a direct retrofit initiative by the ministry. Whether the Sturmbox will also be included in the kit of the Future Infantryman is still being discussed in a working group.

The Sturmbox is manufactured by the Australian quality company PLATATAC. This rather secret piece of equipment was seen in action during a demonstration by the Australian 2nd Commando Regiment in front of the Prime Minister (HERE is the video). The "Assaulters Milk Crate (patent pending)" - as it is originally called in Australia - will soon also be assigned an NSN number.

The Sturmbox is allegedly made of carbon reinforced plastic material, resistant to 16kn pressure, 2000 degrees Celsius, and 10 bars of TNT. Three special forces soldiers can allegedly simultaneously perform an ice skating choreography on it.

The Sturmbox extends the operational spectrum in Direct Action missions. It bridges the gap between ladders and pure jump boots, making shorter team members equally empowered with larger individuals. Even short superiors can be raised to eye level in barracks operation.

Special Features: Each Sturmbox has a Tuff Tactical Quick Release Tactical Tie Off Point (TTQRTTOP) and is also modular. Several Sturmboxes can be stacked for deployment. Each Sturmbox also has two storm handles.
Available in three colors, with KSK and KSM insisting they do not receive the same color. The Sturmbox will be introduced in Tactical Diver Suit Black (International: Blackout 1000x) for the combat swimmers. The KSK will receive it in German desert color (International: Tactical Tan). There is still one color left for the IDZ Kit.

The Sturmbox is very lightweight.
Costs $499.00 in Australia, €800 in Europe.
Available for the civilian market starting April 1, 2016 directly in Australia.

Special thanks to PLATATAC for developing this essential piece of equipment. Damn milk drinkers 😉
