Special vehicle Survivor R for Saxony

Rheinmetall delivers the first of two highly protected all-round protected transport vehicles Survivor R to the Saxony State Police on December 15, 2017. The second system will follow before Christmas. The Free State had commissioned Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) with the delivery of the two special vehicles Survivor R only in February of this year. The vehicles are part of the extensive anti-terrorism package of the state and will be available to the special units of the Saxon police in the future.

The Survivor R exemplifies the themes of security and mobility that Rheinmetall is committed to. Developed in cooperation with the specialist vehicle manufacturer Achleitner, the Survivor R is ideal as a protected special vehicle for police forces. Such vehicles are particularly needed in police situations with high potential for danger, in order to bring special forces to their deployment location under protection or to evacuate individuals from the danger zone.

The two Survivor R vehicles of the Saxon State Police are equipped, among other features, with a special signaling system, an integrated remote-controlled observation tower with optronics and munitions, high-performance loudspeakers, and a hydraulically lowerable rear ramp for quick entry and exit. The 340 hp engine with a torque of 1,250 Nm ensures excellent maneuverability of the vehicle, which can weigh up to 17 tons. The Survivor R is low in emissions according to the current Euro 6 exhaust gas standard.
The armored monocoque cabin provides versatile protection for the crew against relevant threats. The interior is bright and ergonomically designed, providing ample space for the crew including personal equipment and comprehensive radio and command equipment.

The consistent use of civil-commercial and military series components enables a favorable vehicle price, as well as worldwide maintenance and repair in the Rheinmetall MAN service network. This makes the Survivor R a cost-efficient, easy-to-maintain vehicle platform with low lifecycle costs and high operational readiness. Besides Saxony, so far only the Berlin State Police has ordered the Survivor R.
