Special vehicle for the Berlin police - Survivor R to the capital

The Berlin Police has awarded Rheinmetall with the delivery of a specially protected vehicle Survivor R. The versatile vehicle will be tailored to the needs of the Einsatz Direktion and is scheduled for delivery in July 2018. Berlin is the second federal state after Saxony to equip its police special forces with the Survivor R.

Developed in cooperation between Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles and the special vehicle manufacturer Achleitner, the Survivor R is ideal as a protected special vehicle for police forces. Such vehicles are particularly needed in police situations with high levels of danger to transport special forces to their deployment location or evacuate individuals from the danger zone. The Survivor R is based on a powerful 4x4 MAN truck chassis and a cab made of armored steel. This combines the highly mobile and over 100 km/h fast vehicle with automotive mass production technology and the latest protection technology from Rheinmetall.

The armored monocoque cab can be individually and discreetly adapted to changing threat situations with adaptive protection elements and is equipped as standard with a protective ventilation system against nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare agents. Although superbly protected, the exterior appearance of the Survivor R is deliberately civilian and visually de-escalating for police operations. The interior is bright and ergonomically designed, providing ample space for a crew of up to eleven people with personal equipment and extensive radio and command equipment.

The consistent use of civilian-commercial and military series components enables a favorable vehicle price, as well as worldwide maintenance and repair within the Rheinmetall MAN service network. This makes the Survivor R a cost-effective, easy-to-maintain vehicle platform with low lifecycle costs and high operational readiness.
