Sirius Compact: New flexibility for electronic warfare

05/12/2022By Redaktion

The Sirius Compact is a lightweight, passive sensor for electronic warfare. It was designed to meet the requirements of monitoring at all levels of tactical operations by locating threats in all aspects without being detected itself.

Sirius Compact is small, lightweight, and powerful. With these new capabilities, the sensor far surpasses comparable static solutions. Its easy integration into drones, vehicles, ships, masts, and portable applications allows the system to be quickly deployed and its range scalable for different mission requirements.

"Operations in the electromagnetic spectrum of a modern battlefield are constantly evolving. That's why the focus in developing the Sirius Compact was to create an agile and portable system that meets these requirements while providing maximum protection for the users," says Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Business Area Surveillance at Saab.

Sirius Compact is a modular and scalable system. It can be used independently, in conjunction with multiple sensors, or as an extension of existing sensor systems. By improving situational awareness through silent detection, classification, and prioritization of radar and data link emissions, the system also acts as a force multiplier, enabling the user to recognize local threats without being detected. Autonomous operation allows for the assimilation and collection of situational threat information without the need to store sensitive data locally in the sensor.

Sirius Compact is developed and produced in Saab's production facilities in Sweden and Finland. This aligns with Saab's growth strategy of expanding regional presence in selected markets outside Sweden. More on the topic of Electronic Warfare at SAAB.

Saab will present Sirius Compact for the first time at AOC Europe in Montpellier (France) from May 10 to 12, 2022, and at Eurosatory in Paris from June 13 to 17, 2022.
