Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the delivery of ammunition for the recoilless Carl-Gustaf® rifle. The order value amounts to approximately 800 million SEK and deliveries will take place between 2023 and 2025.
The order is placed within a framework agreement that was updated in April 2022, allowing FMV to place orders for ground combat weapons and ammunition with Saab over a period of ten years. The order includes the new programmable high-explosive ammunition designated HE 448.
Together with the new fire control device FCD 558, which Sweden ordered at the end of 2021, the new programmable explosive ammunition HE 448 gives the Carl-Gustaf operator the ability to quickly configure a round. The wide range of ammunition available for the Carl-Gustaf strengthens the system's tactical flexibility and enables faster effects, higher hit probabilities, and greater effectiveness for the soldiers.
